4 companies we think have the potential to go global - The Sirius Programme

Last Wednesday we at Whichit had the pleasure of attending the Sirius Programme 1st graduation, run by the UKTI. Whichit enrolled on this programme back in April, which is designed to propel entrepreneurs into the business world, providing both guidance and aid start-up finances. 

Hosted in Wayra, the room was filled with young entrepreneurs on a variety of career paths, each group or individual brings a new idea to the table, the programme invests in many different sectors from fashion, to the environment, no two ideas the same, and every thought has the potential to be the next billion pound company. At this event you're in with the strong possibly of stood alongside the next Steve Jobs.    

Having been surrounds by and seen the success of these individuals, I have put a list of the 4 fasting graduating start-ups, the inspiring individuals behind them and the success they found within the sirius programme. If you are on this list, congratulations.


Rentez-Vous
Rentez-Vous is a peer to peer fashion rental company. Women can borrow clothes and accessories using Rentez-Vous platform, a perfect alternative to buying new and the seemingly endless issue of wastage in the fashion industry. The founder Fiona Disegni has been nominated one of the Leaders of the Mayor of London.

This activewear company creates custom fit running and sport shoes with 3D soles, their success is almost inevitable as they even had to close their kick stater campaign due to such a high demand. They have produced the first ever shoes designed for sockless wear, incorporating wool as the entire shoe upper, this seamless fabric resists order, sweat and dirt.

Fresh 4 Cast

Fresh 4 Cast has created software that helps producers of perishable goods with marketing and distribution. They raised £180K in July and have expanded thier customer base to Costa Rica and Panama. Their next plan is to export to Brazil, Holland and Honduras in 2015.

Bio Bean
Bio Bean recycles waste coffee grounds into advanced Biofuels, they have raised over £2M from investors and grants at Founders.org and the Big Lottery Fund, and from their success have managed to create 9 jobs since January 2014 in the UK. One of the Founder, Arthur kay was names in the Top Influencer of the Evening Standard for  “Generation next “.

The guidance these teams receive come from Andrew Humphries from The Bakery and Ian Merricks from Accelerator Academy, who stood proud along side the UK Government entrepreneur in residence Simon Devonshire to celebrate the success of the programme.
